Restaurant Name: Starbucks Coffee

My first few days in China were stressful... and I am a coffee addict. I was craving something familiar and I happened upon this starbucks. Well, it's sad to say but it made my day. I have worked part time at several coffee shops during my college career and I know a good cappuccino. Maybe because I was homesick, maybe because of the different milk, but the cappuccino here was the BEST! So rich and creamy, with the perfect proportion of espresso, milk, and froth. The staff was incredibly kind and considerate, the store was clean, and they had air conditioning on a hot shanghai day!

Favorite Dish: Cappuccino-- as I described before!

oh, and I wanted to take a photo but on the door there is a sign that says "no photos"--I even asked the barista, but she said that it wasn't allowed. but we all know what a Starbucks looks like, don't we?

Restaurant Name: GongDeLin Vegetarian Restaurant

It was cold and rainy... I was alone in shanghai and hungry. Also I didn't know a word of Chinese. I knew if I found a vegetarian restaurant I could order anything and not worry about accidentally eating meat. So I walked FOREVER to find this place. Eventually, rain-soaked, tired, and starved, I found it.
Walking in, I noticed the calming ambiance of dark wood and running water. I was greeted by some women who led me across a small "bridge" over a relaxing stream of running water, to a nice table.
The menu was so confusing because there were dishes such as beef and fish, and I thought I was in the wrong place! So I ordered some dishes of tofu to be safe. I must admit the waiter was very kind to deal with me and my nervousness from being in a different country, and eating strange foods.

The food was delicious and the price was moderate. The ambiance was the best part.

Later, I found out that ALL of the food there is vegetarian and only resembles such food as beef or fish!

Favorite Dish: pickled tofu-- prepared in different ways. Some were shaped like bow-ties, others like blocks. And others were like cylinders. It was tasty and a good appetizer.
