Hong Kong

welcome to Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a busy city, where business takes first place. The city is crowded by large office towers and gleaming apartment blocks-each with multimillion dollar price tags. With 6.9 people running around it's easy to feel a little claustrophobic. Hong Kong is a vibrant city with a great art, music and restaurant scene. But it's not the cleanest city. To me after living in super clean Singapore, this was a somewhat welcome change coming here. Strange i know, but it felt real. There were prostitutes, dirt, people spitting and men in branded business suits peeing infront of us in Kowloon park-as if it was nothing. I appreciated Singapore much more when i got back.

One nice thing about Hong Kong is that it's so easy to escape it. All you have to do is take a bus to Repulse Bay or Stanley and you are in a different-slower world. One of the nicest times to visit Hong Kong is in the spring, autumn or winter, where the weather is nice and chilly. It's not very nice in the summer with hot temperatures in the high 30's and actually surpass Singapore's temperatures.

It's best to spend a few days here. I highly recommend a day trip to Macau, which is a 45 min fast ferry ride away. Forgot the casinos and enjoy the Chinese-Portuguese culture.
It's smaller than it looks, Hong Kong Disneyland
Hong Kong Disneyland is the new kid in town. We decided to give it a shot, since we had seen most of the city. From all the press in Hong Kong, you would think the park was swamped with pushy tourists and quite dirty. Nothing could be farther from the truth. We went on new years day and it wasn't that crowded, compared to parks in Tokyo and U.S.A. My only criticism is that it's so small. Sleeping Beauty's castle is tiny! Laughable compared to the castles at the other parks. There are hardly any rides, most of the space is filled by shops. Still an enjoyable experience. Great for the kids and anyone, who has never been to a Disney park before.

It's always good to find dim sum restaurants in Hong Kong that still push the carts around.
