Name of Shop: Chatuchak Weekend Market/shopping map
The market's hours are 9 am to 4 pm or sunset. The market operates saturday and sunday. For more info, go to my main Chatuchak tip on things to do. Also, you can buy Nancy Chandler;s maps-she lists main shopping areas. Also gives map for Chatuchak. I was just at the market in early April. I saw some people handing free maps out to the crowds. If you are going with a few friends-you may want to set up a place just in case you get lost. This happens a lot . You can use the clocktower-which is in the middle of the market. Presently, it's under tarp and being renovated.

Khao San market sells lots of necklaces, tshirts and things. Movie posters. There are used books for sale.

There really is so much shopping in Bangkok-you will be quite spoiled. If you are interested in shopping at malls (gaysorn, mbk, isetan and robinsons-then you should head to siam square (bts stops siam and chitlom) There are also small shops around this area. Chatuchak market is an amazing variety of items. There are other evening markets throughout the city. There is the night market by Lumphini Park (more upscale, but prices show it). There is the patpong market-which sells shirts, photo albums, cushion covers and other things. Some people will dress in various hilltribe oufits to sell their wares. In town, you can buy nancy chandler;s map to bangkok shopping. She lists key places in the city.
