From around 6 months old I started my love affair with travel. It's not just the trip, but i love glossing over guidebooks, the planning and the flying. Yes, i am an aviation dork. My father started me on this trend. He worked in the aerospace industry and is a glider pilot. Which i am now getting into. A few years ago I worked for a different aerospace company and became more intrigued with planes. For years, i have been very interested in the mechanics of airplanes. One of my favorite museums is the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. If i had been taller i would have possibly become a commercial or military pilot. Alas, i am only 157 cm or 5'2".
For the past five years, my husband and I have been working and living in Singapore. It's such a great travel base, as well as having probably the best airport in the world. Also, you gotta love Singapore airlines. We are guaranteed to stay here until December of 2007. We love it here and don't want to leave-well not yet, anyway. Hopefully we will find more work or otherwise, who knows where we will end up.
I am the product of two people, who love to travel. My father is from Vienna, Austria and moved to the states to study, which is where he met my American mother. Things escalated when i met my husband. He has family all over the western US, so we now have a legitimate excuse to travel more.
Before traveling and moving to Singapore, we did a short stint in Gothenberg, Sweden. Even though it was the dead of winter when we arrived, i really fell in love with Sweden, which is a wonderful country.
My husband and I finally got our advanced open water certification. Southeast Asia is one of the most beautiful places to dive. We knew we would regret it if we didn't do it. So far we have dived in Malaysia, Maldives and Thailand. Now that we are divers, i think our travel dream list has almost doubled.
In August 2006, my husband and i had a son. We look forward to taking him traveling and filling his passport with lots of colorful stamps. My one year old son has already been to the united states, japan, thailand, philippines, australia, china and malaysia. |
