Saranda's like Eastern Europe was in the early 90's - as cafe bars and techno music now begin to take over. Still, it'll make an interesting excursion for package-tourists from Corfu as it - and Albania - is a curious place. There are nicer resorts (although smaller, hard-to-reach and less-developed) further up the coast towards Vlore, but worth taking a peek for a first glimpse of Albania . . .

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:superb climate, scenic, proximity to Butrint
  • Cons:losing its identity FAST, hawkers, poor transportation to rest of the country
  • In a nutshell:an oddball daytrip destination from Corfu
