HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! | Hereford House for New Year's Eve |
Happy New Year to all of you VTers!!! I wish you all the best and many happy travels in 2006. |
| | New York City New York city was wonderful!!!! I visited for two weeks in September 2005 and really want to go back. There is just so much to do and, it's amazing!
I've been to the top of the Empire State Building, been to Times Square several times, saw Rockefeller Center, Central Park four times (where I saw my first celebrity), visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art, took a trip to Coney Island, and have been to the financial district and the south seaport. I've been shopping at Macy's, Pier 17, on Broadway, and went to Brazilian Days, a local festival. I saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway and took the ferry out to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. |
| | This pic was taken at The Pier 17 Shopping Center at the South Seaport near Battery Park. I thought it was an interesting interpretation of the Statue of Liberty. |
| | NYC Central Park Central Park was a good place to just hang out and people watch. I went several times and spend the better part of an afternoon there at one time checking out the sights. I never felt unsafe even when I went to the park by myself. There are people with kids everywhere. I didn't go after dark. |
| Conservatory Pond in Central Park |
| | Remote Control Boats in Central Park I really like sitting around the Conservatory Pond in Central Park and watching the mini sail boats. It's peaceful and relaxing here. |
| Wall of Guitars - New York City Hard Rock |
| | Good Eats in NYC There were so many good restaurants in NYC. I loved Carmine's, went there twice and also loved Serendipity 3. I've read some reviews on Serendipity that said the food was bad, but I had the best hamburger and french fries!
This pic is from the new Hard Rock Cafe. It's located in the old Paramount Theater in Times Square. It's worth visiting just for the rock & roll memorabilia. |
| | Kansas City - Not Just a Cowtown Ok, so KC isn't as happening as New York or Los Angeles, but it's still a great town. We have lots of local festivals, and concerts, and there are plenty of clubs for nightlife, and nice restaurants and shopping.
If you're visiting you definately need to check out the Plaza. It's south of downtown. There are wonderful restaurants and good shopping in several blocks of a Spanish-style developed area.
If you're here in the summer Worlds of Fun and Ocean's of Fun (right next to each other) are a must do. I'm more the water park type so you'll find me at Ocean's of Fun soaking up some rays. There is even an adult pool with a swim up bar that's great to hang out in if you're over 21.
I live in a suburb of Kansas City. I've lived in the KC metro area on both the Missouri and Kansas sides of the state line since 1996 when I graduated from College. I've also lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and in mid-Missouri. |

| | Raised in Cedar Rapids, IA I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and still visit frequently. This pic was taken in one of the Amana Colonies. The Amana Colonies are a group of small old style German villages in Iowa. There are interesting little shops and great German restaruants throughout the villages |
