Favorite thing: QUOTES:
Prince Charles inaugurates the opening of the exhibition "Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs" at the O2 arena in London.
Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt gets acquainted with a camel during the premiere of the King Tut exhibit in Los Angeles, June 15, 2005. The photo is selfexpanatory, you can easily guess the monologue or rather the exchanged dialogue; however both should be proud of their assets :)) (Photo: AP/LA County Museum Of Art)*.
Actor Brendan Fraser looks at a bust of King Tut during the premiere of the King Tut exhibit June 15, 2005, at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The photographer seems to imply something... Just compare the two prfiles of Tut and Brendan in the relavant photo..! You may notice what was in his mind then.......*
National curator for "Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs," leads visitors on a tour of the exhibit June 15, 2005, at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Easter 2007 Live from Cairo
Favorite thing: Islamic feasts are determined by lunar calendar.
Eid Al-Fitr al-mubarak*(Breaking the fast) lasts for 3 days as of the 1st of Shawal (the 10th lunar month). It follows the Muslims' fasting month Ramadan.
Eid Al-Adha al-mubarak *(Sacrifice) lasts for 4 days as of 10th of Dhul-Hejja (the 12th i.e. the last lunar month of the year). Muslims perform Haj at such month annually; the main peak day of Haj is 9th Dhul-Hejja, where pilgrims visit 'Arafat Mountain Area' and leave it before sunset.
Christmas (Eid Al-Milad al-mageed) * is determined by solar calendar and celebrated on January 7th by Egyptian Christians (Copts), not on December 25th.
Easter (Eid Al-Qe-ya-ma al-mageed/ Al-Fess-h)* As you may be aware it is determined by both lunar and solar calendars simultaneously.
How?
Start with solar month April !
Find the 15th day of the corresoponding lunar month !
Next Sunday will be the Easter, whether it lays in April or next month May.
Example :
Current year 2007:
Solar month corresponding to April 2007 is Rabie-Al-Awal (3rd month of Hijri Calendar i.e. the Lunar.)
15th Rabie-Al-Awal 1428 Hijri Year corresponds to Tuesday 2nd April 2007 Gregorian Year.
Next Sunday is April 8th 2007. It is current year Easter.
All Egyptians Moslems and Christians celebrate "Sham-Al-Naseem" together on the next Monday annually.
I WISH VERY HAPPY FEASTS TO ALL MY CHRISTIAN FRIENDS WORLDWIDE.*
