Historical Center - Kings Palace Sintra has a lot of historical sites to offer as well a beautiful landscape with lots of gardens and woods. The area has its own micro-climate, which in summer is very agreable but sometimes also creates dense fog! The area offers as well a great number of nice restaurants from budget to high priced ones. Most of them require a car to reach them.
Since 1970 I come to this area and still like it very much. |

| | Sintra area - Praia Grande The area also has some very nice beaches like Praia Grande. The water nevertheless warms up to only 19 C in summer! Waves sometimes ar rough and there is a strong current. A perfect place to surf or take a walk on the beach. There are some restaurants, offering fresh seafood or a nice "sunsetter". Beaches are crowded in summer and on weekends. During the week off season almost nobody to see. On hot summerdays Praia Grande as well as neighbouring beaches Praia Adraga and Praia das Macas have dense/cold fog till afternoon. |
