Exploring the Beautiful City that Was I arrived by train from Granada. Very mellow ride. The train station is about a 20 minute walk from the old town area..... if you know where you are walking. I spent 8 euro for a taxi to the hotel, and took a rather strange route. I spent three nights at the Fernando III Hotel. In addition to being in the old town, it had a rooftop swimming pool.
After clearing a few internet issues, walked about in the town to get a flavor. The maze of small streets and alleys guarantees that you will get lost. It took a while to get the hang of the streets.
Made it to the Cathedral, but it closes at 4 PM so I would have to wait until the next day. However, I was able to squeeze in the Reales Alcazares, the fort and palace. |
| | Reales Alcazares This palace is a must see. The detail and combination of the moorish and christian architecture is nothing short of amazing. Detailed carvings, tiles, pools, gardens, grottos, |
What to do after a long day There are a myriad of cathedrals, churches, monuments, museums, music programs, plus you have to allow for dining. At the end of the day a cerveza pequena is very much appreciated..... | | | At last, a proper size brew.... |
