  • Instead of taking the funiculor up the hill to MontMontre/Scre Couer, you can take the steps. In the morning there were the fitness folks hitting the stairs. I kind of like the way the buildings look as they appear to be leaning inward.

  • The plaza in front of the Centre Pompidou runs downhill at such an angle it makes the light poles and air vents and buildings appear at an angle. In the plaza you will find street artists and entertainers. One guy was bounding a ball onto a keyboard presumable creating music. But he was obviously in need of practice. But people were putting coins in his purse/bag as had as he was.

  • I don't know why Invalides looks like it is leaning into the Thinker at the Musee Rodin. The Thinker looks straight up and down. Or was I in Pisa?

In any event, it is very calming to sit on the bench in front of the Thinker and contemplate. I was thinking "What I should I do for lunch?

  • Paris - Statue with a Traffic Cone
  • Statue with a Traffic Cone

  • This statue by the Seine and Notre Dame, I believe was a memorial to fallen soldiers. I liked that it was decorated with a traffic cone. There must be a conspiracy as there are similar statues decorated with traffic cones in Scotland. Every morning the cone is on the statue, the authorities remove it and the next morning it is back.

    Interpol is investigating!!!!

  • I was able to get this statue to hold still while I photographed it in front of Notre Dame. The statue is of Charlemagne.

If you are wondering "hey, where are the tourists?", I simply asked them all to duck.

  • What use to be a train platform running towards the Bastille has been converted by the clever French into a long and narrow but charming park. Under the support are now various types of shops. Joggers populated the place in the morning, however, there were a group of business folks who took the path simply for the joy of it. .

I need to do the exact route from CDG to Les Chatelet with my 74 year old mother with knee problems. Could you tell me how many flights of stairs there are from buying the ticket to the actual B- line RER train stop at CDG?

A gem of a page, amusing reading and with an eye for off the beaten path detail. I stayed in the same area (hotel) and thus also ate (excellently) at Le Chien qui Fume. As for Beef Wellington, my suggestion would be Napoleon "Bone Aparte" hotpot.
