A bit of a trek, down Rue Brossolette and across the autoroute, this place is more catered to motorists, but if you are more than one, and do not wish to spend another day at that Youth Hostel, worrying about your belongings, then this place is great. It's clean, and friendly, and cheap. Sure it's far but so is the hostel. We stayed here after leaving the hostel, before moving into our flat. the petit dej is very good too!

Cheap, simple, no TV, but great location just to the north of the Cathedral. We tried calling in advance several times but they never picked up, so we had to go there when we arrived - we luckily got a room. We were staying at a friend's for a couple of nights before going there. It was wierd staying in a hotel in a place where i'd lived, but it was more central than my old flat. For a double it was about 32€. There was no TV, but we had a shower and WC.

We got a pretty good deal to stay here over the weekend of my 28th birthday, booked online and saved almost fifty percent (we paid about seventy euros for a double). The rooms were nice, the hotel nice, but the price does not include breakfast (11 euros extra). There are jacuzzis and stuff, and this is the hotel of the Thermes Sextius, but I never got around to using the facilities. I must say though, being a three star hotel it wasn't THAT good. I have stayed in nicer two stars. At the end of the day it is a room with a bed and a TV and a bath. Oh, and in the morning when i went to take a shower, the water was cold!!!! So much for the Thermes.
Unique Qualities: Like I say, the hotel of the Thermes, but I never got down there. The location is good; at the end of the Cours Sextius, not far from the Cathedrale, and nearby to the great little furniture store Fly. Not that that is important if you aren't actually living there.

ForestqueenNYC Mon Dec 11, 2006 03:04 UTC Update on John Malkovich. I was in Aix last January and a friend of mine who works at the travel agency near the Monoprix on the Cours told me that JM no longer lives there. He may have moved to Paris, but I have also heard he'd moved to Boston. | tini58de Wed May 31, 2006 07:56 UTC Rickie, I returned to your great page - this time because we booked a flight to Marseille and I am looking for info on where to base ourselves: Aix or Marseille! You got ME convinced already! Thanks! | RickinDutch Thu Oct 27, 2005 00:35 UTC Well done - thanks for taking the time to share such great info/photos.
