Getting TO/AROUND: Took 2 cabs from Beijing West Station (arrival from Xi'an by train) to Wangfujing Hotel. Lots of taxis in the queue. Cost to Hotel works out to be 28RMB. Plenty of touts at the railway station marketing hotel rooms with transportation. Just ignore them.

Getting TO/AROUND: On the first day at Beijing, we took the subway from Tiananmen East to Xidan. The fare is 3RMB each, which works out to about 15RMB in total. This is more expensive compared to the taxi fare we took from Xidan back to the hotel at Wangfujing which cost us 14RMB. The fare of 3RMB is not distance related. On the 12-Dec, we took a subway from XiuShui Market back to Wangfujing at the same price.

Getting TO/AROUND: On the second day, we booked a taxi for the whole day at 360RMB to the Ming Tombs' Sacred Way, Badaling Great Wall, Summer Palace and Qianmen. The cab driver must be pretty new and was polite and friendly. It would seems that it was his first whole day booking.

Getting TO/AROUND: The flag down rate for the taxis is 10RMB here compared to 6RMB at Xi'an. The distance related charges could varies from 1.20RMB to 1.60RMB per kilometre pending on the cab type. I love the Hyundia Sonata (black) taxi which is pretty new. The other taxis have you breathing in the exhaust from the taxi even with the windows up. Some taxis requires additional for 5 pax while others will live by it.
