A friend of mine was teaching at a School in Muscat and I got the invite out there to see the place that she was raving about.
I wasn't dissapointed, I can honestly say that Omani people are the friendliest I've ever come across. They literally can not do enough for you and their city is absolutely beautiful.
Cost of living was less than the UK so my friend was living in a very spacious 3 bedroom villa right on the beach and had a speedboat moored in the local marina.
The weather was extremely hot and it was only Easter, apparently it got to 60 degrees in the height of Summer the previous year so be very careful when you choose to go.
Hotel wise even though I never stayed in them, there was the Al Bustain with it's private pool and fantastic facilities or if you wanted a more 'chic' type place and my personal favourite - try the Chedi, I only eat there and looked around but the place looked fantastic to the point I almost wished I didn't have a friend liviing out there so I would have had to have checked in!
All the Ex-Pats I met in Muscat tend to like the pace of life here which is quite relaxed but if they fancy a burn out then they just travel up the desert about 4 hours to Dubai for the shopping and nightlife |
