Ok... nothing like that overwhelming awe that comes a-washing over when u realise that u r witnessing something truly momentous & magical... in my last two dives in Hin Daeng over the weekend, i finally saw it - my first manta ray. The second just before I turned and caught sight of it, a wave of thrill and goosebumps went up my arms and down my spine... *yes!!!*

The last dive was the best though... totally unexpected, after a great dive with some good shots of juvenile regal angelfish, hingebeak shrimps and harlequin spotted sweetlips, we ascended to 5 meters for our safety stop... then, excited mumbling through regulator from our diveguide!!!... looked down and saw what we thought was the last glimpse of the manta passing by below us, fading into the blue... suddenly it made a U-turn, came flying upwards right towards me!... *snap! snap!... quickly turn camera into video mode*... and i even managed to catch some 15 seconds of it as it swooped left not more than a few meters away from me and swam off with its pack of fishy friends... will post the video up when VT finally gets round to video posting ;)))
