I was born in KL but grew up in the suburbs just outside it (Petaling Jaya). But after I came back from university and started working in the heart of town, it didn't take me long to get fed up of battling the traffic every morning & night to get to and from work. So finally I decided to spend my money on something more substantial than suits and shoes, so I bought a little apartment right in the middle of the city center, just across the park from the Twin Towers. So now work is a 2 minute U-turn and drive into the carpark ;)
Just a chilled out Saturday night in KL, but in true VT style, the cameras were out, food and drinks were a-plenty and the company was great... ;)))
The eagle-eyed amongst u may notice two familiar faces on the VT pages... Sharon and Raymond. Get with the program you guys, join in already!!
It's nice when friends come to stay so one gets a chance to go travelling round one's own country and see the sights that, as a local, one never makes an effort to go see... There are some nice things to do and visit around Kuala Lumpur, e.g. Putrajaya to see the wide spaciousness and grandiosity of the administrative capital of Malaysia, Chinatown where it couldn't be more different with the narrow crowded streets of old KL, the Elephant Sanctuary in Kuala Gandah two hours away in Pahang maybe with a short stop at Bukit Tinggi to see the surreal Colemar Tropicale Resort!
I should be updating these pages every now and then to add more tips and photos so come back next time!
- Pros:something for everyone in kayyy elll
- Cons:too hot & humid sometimes; customer service can leave much to be desired, esp. the taxi drivers!

Excellent out of the norm tips, Mizzie! Bukit Tinggi may be a bit far, but I will try to have a look! Street vendors are my favourite restaurants, but I may visit Tamarind Springs, as you were so enthusiastic.
Thanks for great Kuala Lumpur page .
Do the gents have the same dunny queueing system as the ladies?
I didn't feel too much at the time, but there's definitely a presence there. What a past this area has. We have a few haunted house stories in our family - there are spirits out there. Somewhere.
What's an "all white" bar?? You wrote "Bar Blonde is an all-white bar"? You can imagine why I'm asking, LOL!!!
Fantastic info on KL here! Definintely a city I want to visit in the future. My ratings are definitely with you, and looking forward to more of your great tips! Greetings from the desert / Jess :-)
sigh, well, you are right too ... its everywhere ....
Oh KL...bring back nice memories. The Hills of Tinggi sounds great!
Very interesting and enlightening page on KL. Shopping and Petronas Towers would definitely be on my list. If I ever get there, I have to remember the TP!!
DVDs are poor quality, often don't play and are badly scratched at China town. Sungei Wang Plaza, Kuala Lumpur is the place to get your DVD's. We go to a guy on the ground floor in the corner of the building closest to Low Yat. Every one he sold us worked
