Exploring Around Scourie

Next Stop, Loch Laxford.

Loch Laxford

Having no plans about where our next night was to be spent, we nearly didn't stop at Loch laxford, it being only a few miles down the road from our last port of call. The loch is 4 miles north east of Scourie and has many little inlets and rocky islands and is fed from the river Laxford, which is strictly private fishing only!

We arrived here around lunchtime on a gloriously warm, sunny day. There was a parking area by a boathouse and a jetty and initially we simply stopped to have lunch here. In the end, it was such a lovely place and ideal for the boat, we decided it would be daft not to spend a night or two here. We were reassured by a boatman transporting the VERY rich about the loch that we were fine to stay. On our second night, we were joined by a lonesome Scots lad in his car,who was heading north for the sea fishing.

We had the boat out that afternoon and evening but I have to admit, it was the worst fishing we have ever experienced in Scotland. Not one bite!! Still, we really enjoyed chugging about the many inlets and islands on the loch.

Once again, we took off on the motorbike, discovering tiny places we would never have got to in the van, as well as having a look at nearby Scourie with it's lovely beach, which we really liked.

The places we visited from here are all under Scourie, it being the nearest recognised place on VT.
