Rocks, Beaches and Headlands.

THIS PAGE IS NOTHING ABOUT THURSO, WE DIDN'T STOP IN THE TOWN, BUT ABOUT THE SURROUNDING AREA.

After passing through Thurso we called in at the Flagstone Trail in Castletown, had a look at West Dunnet harbour and then took the road to Dunnet Head.We spent some time here admiring the views to Orkney before stopping on the way back down, at Little Clett, a sea stack on the south eastern side of Dunnet Head.

From here, we continued along the minor coastal route to Skarfskerry, where we were booked into a five van caravan site. Once established, we took the motorbike off and explored the nearby coastal harbours and passed Castle of Mey, where there was much activity and a police presence owing to the imminent visit of Prince Charles. Typical, we had wanted to visit the castle and gardens but it was closed this week because of the royal visit.
