Heading out to sea
Krabi was not a part of our itenary initially. We wanted to go for the new year party at ko phangan but could not get seats to samui! So, we flew to krabi instead - and what a blessing in disguise it turned out to be :)

A distinct difference I noticed between the tourist crowd at Krabi and Phuket is this: Krabi crowd is generally younger (mainly more like the backpacker crowd) compared to the crowd flocking to Phuket. And Krabi is definitely less touristy than Phuket - Thumbs up!!

The towering limestone cliffs around the coast, the many nature trails, and of course the andaman sea make krabi a place that promises adventure. You can go rock climbing, trekking, diving. The list goes on and on and on.

Oh yes, you MUST experience the thai massage, especially after a full day of fun and activities :)
Ao Nang - Town
Somehow, Krabi appeals to me more than Phuket. Maybe because Krabi has more of its own character than Phuket, which, in my opinion, is overly developed and overcrowded.

But then again, it really depends on what appeals to you - Phuket, with all its beautifully landscaped resorts, abundant ameneties and cafes and fine restaurants would definitely appeal more to my parents!

For me, I choose KRABI !!!

Pros:"In general Krabi has lots to offer in terms of activities and sightseeing. Not as crowded as Phuket."
Cons:"A pity that because of commercialisation and increasing popularity, some of the most beautiful beaches around the area like Maya Bay are now just overflowing with tourist speedboats and people. Sad sad sight."
In A Nutshell:"Krabi is naturally charming and captivating both on land and underwater."
