City Of Angels

by AudK - last update: Nov 28, 2004

Bangkok - the capital of Thailand. Do you know that Bangkok's complete name is actually.. ahem!

"Krungthep mahanakhon bowon ttanakosin mahintara ayuthaya mahadilok popoopparat ratchathani burirom-udomratchaniwet mahasathan-amonpiman-avatansathir-sakkathatityavisnukamprasit"

It is shortened to "Krungthep" which translates to "City of Angels", for everyday use. Phew. Imagine what a mouthful that would have been if it was not shortened!
Chatuchak Weekend Market
You will KNOW when you are in Bangkok - thai architecture is very distinct and elaborate. Very fascinating. Its just so grand, so intricate, so beautiful, soo.. Thai!

And of course food abounds even at 12am. I love Tom Yam, the bbq seafood, the milk coffee *slurp*.

Great shopping at really reasonable prices. All kinds of markets - night markets, weekend markets, even floating markets - so you can shop on water too!

There's too much to mention, I can go on and on and on.. Check my tips on Bangkok. I think I'll post more information on specific places and activities there :)

To be continued..

Pros:"I like Bangkok because it feels distinctly Thai, is rich in culture, has good food, good shopping, and so much more - just keeps making me come back for more!"
Cons:"The air is not very good. Also, I wished touts wouldn't harass tourists that much."
In A Nutshell:"Chatuchak, Siam Square, Chinatown! I am coming back!"
