Alcatraz: The Rock

It is certainly a very popular place to visit. The history behind the Alcatraz was the reason why this place attract so many visitors every year. Visiting the cells can give you a creepy feeling of how life was going on there. You can listen to the audio tape of the stories that happened in the past including the famous story of "Out of Alcatraz by a spoon."

A great architecture and a nice lake in front of it. It's one of the scenes in the movie "The Rock" played by Sean Connery & Nicolas Cage.

Located in the Lombard street, it is certainly an interesting road. The street connects Hyde street and Leavenworth Street (one way direction).

Address: Lombard Street. Descent begins at Hyde Street.
Directions: Take the cable car and get off the Hyde street (right in the intersection with Lombard street) or just drive your car to Leavenworth Street. To get a good picture, you should go to the Leavenworth Street.

Not far from SF, you need a ticket to enter($3.50? - sorry I already forget). You will see the giant redwoods in it. There is a nice gift shop, if you want to purchase some souvenirs.

Nice little town with interesting "boat" houses - known as the resident of artists. Beautiful marina.

Directions: Sausalito can be reached by ferry from the ferry terminal of SF or by car (cross the Golden Gate Bridge)

There are nice Victorian houses in Sausalito, too. This beautiful building in my photo is a fashion shop (If I am not mistaken), located in the main road of Sausalito.

Things To Do: Cable Car Ride

|
Riding the cable car in SF is a famous tourist attraction. It's fun to go around with the cable car. For a scenic ride, it's better to take the cable car from the station near Fishermans Wharf - located in the intersection of Hyde St and Beach St. Sometimes the queuing line can be very long. You can also visit the Cable Car Museum.
