"Taipei" a Taipei Travel Page by blue_sky04

What made me visit Taipei? One, it was my best friend who moved from Surabaya-Indonesia to Taipei many years ago. We have been friends for long time & he is like a little brother to me. He had told me many times to go to Taipei and finally I could make it. The other reason was that I actually had had a plan to visit Taipei long ago when I traveled to Hong Kong for the first time. Unfortunately, the plan was canceled. Finally, I wanted to visit the Taipei 101, which is currently the tallest building on earth.

What impression did I get from Taipei? It is a bit like Hong Kong I think, although Taipei does not look as busy and crowded as Hong Kong. Well, I only spent a few days in this city, so I may have different opinion if I have the opportunity to spend more time to explore.

I got the opportunity to meet new friends in Taipei, the two girls on the picture. They are friends to my best friend. It is always great to explore the city with friends.

I have always been fascinated by great structures. Taipei 101 building is one of the modern structures which you might want to visit. As I said, it is the tallest building on earth at the moment.

Taipei 101 has an interesting structure which was inspired by the traditional Chinese pagoda as well as the bamboo plant because bamboo represents strenght & resilience.

The tower has 8 upward-flaring sections and supported by 8 supercolumns. Number 8 is believed as a "lucky" number in Chinese culture.

The elevators in Taipei 101 are also the fastest in the world.
