Southern Charm and So Much More

by spgood301 - last update: Jun 8, 2008

Charleston's Antebellum Architecture, at its best
That southern charm is the first thing that attracts you to Charleston, with its antebellum buildings and friendly people, but there really is so much more to Charleston. Foodies can enjoy it's great seafood and southern barbeque. It's a great shopping town, and Charleston's past will satisfy almost any history buff. Most of all, it's a terrific, laid back place to walk around, or take a buggy ride, and just enjoy.

The best thing I can say about Charleston is its skyline is dominated by churches. That's as good a recommendation as I can give any city

History Abounds

Charleston has as much historical sites as almost any American city. It played a major role in at least three major wars: as a major battleground in the American Revolution, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired, and its shipyard was vital to the Allied cause in World War II.
A neat looking bridge, and some great docks too.
