Big Shoulders, and a Bigger Heart

by spgood301 - last update: Aug 10, 2006

Chicago is the newest chapter of my travel life. I'm spending this summer here, and I look forward to sharing my adventure with you.

My first impression, having arrived on a December afternoon, is that Chicago is COLD! Then, I had a welcoming cup of hot chocolate and quickly gained my second impression: Chicago's heart is WARM! And, having arrived during the Christmas season, I can tell you that Chicago is beautiful during the holidays.

Having spent much of the spring and summer here, I can honestly tell you that when the weather's warm, Chicago really shines. The city comes alive with festivals, concerts, outdoor restaurants and bars, and don't forget the beautiful lakefront. If you have to choose one American city to visit this time of year, I highly recommend Chicago.

Chicago has, to me, America's most beautiful urban skyline - and I'm from New York too. And the buildings are even more stunning once you're insise the city. I took this picture on the 4th of July, near the Chicago River looking toward Michigan Avenue. Quite strking, isn't it?
