Here is the Dannebrog Post Office, made famous by local resident Roger Welch. Welch for years produced five-minute segments for the "CBS Sunday Morning" program. These segments were called "Postcards from Nebraska" and they gave city folk a glimpse of what rural life is really like.
My favorite "postcard" has Roger Welch standing in front of this post office explaining the fact that in small towns, they don't need addresses. They don't need addresses because everybody knows where everybody else lives, so they just drive there!
He told the story of how a lady in New York was to ship him a package but she needed a complete mailing address or she could not send it. So, to make her happy, Roger made up an address that involved lines like "loading dock 113D, 327th street" and so on. The mailman brought the package right to Roger's mailbox anyway.
