ONE MILE ABOVE THE OCEANS

by Rich62 - last update: Jan 13, 2008

WELCOME TO DENVER, COLORADO

DENVER, AS SEEN FROM COORS FIELD
A GREAT BRONZE SCULPTURE OF A BALL PLAYER, DONE BY THE FAMED NEBRASKA ARTIST GEORGE LUNDEEN, LOOKS OVER THE MILE HIGH CITY. The statue stands just outside of Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies.
THE 16TH STREET MALL

THE 16TH STREET MALL

DEEP IN DOWNTOWN DENVER, 16th Street has been closed to automotive traffic and is now a pedestrian mall. Built at a cost of $76 million (but who's counting?), it is a mile long and features hundreds of trees, fountains plazas, outdoor cafes, and so on. Its called the best people-watching spot in the city.

(The photo was taken on a Sunday morning when shops were not yet open. Otherwise the street would be filled with people.)

CONVENTION CENTER AND PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

THIS IS THE LARGEST PERFORMING ARTS CENTER UNDER ONE ROOF IN THE UNITED STATES. It is located just two blocks from the redeveloped "Larimer Square" area. Within are ten theaters with over 10,000 seats, the second highest seating capacity in the U.S.

I like that pic from Coors Field. But rude drivers in Denver? Did you drive in Dallas?
