George Washington University

GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY IN WASHINGTON, DC
Not to be confused with Georgetown University. GW is at the corner of i street and 23rd St. Get off the Metro at the Foggy Bottom/GWU station and you are there.
UPSCALE GROCERY SHOPPING

Georgetown

Upscale Grocery stores are fun to browse, and thats the case with Dean & Deluca on the main street in Georgetown. They have a nice wine selection as well.

Address: 3276 M St. NW in Georgetown

History is everywhere in D.C. and Georgetown; someone told me that Francis Scott Key's house used to be near this store.

Anyway, I hope you get the idea that I am trying to show you some of the less well-known places to visit.

The National Building Museum

Here's a stop that is missed by most tourists. Inside you can see a magnificent old structure that is used for Presidential inauguration parties. The collumns are among the largest interior pillars anywhere in the world. They have a nice gift shop as well.

Take the Judiciary Square stop on the Metro, then go north one block to F street and you will see the old reddish colored building to the west.

Pros:"The Metro is the cheapest, easiest way to get around any city."
Cons:"the usual city problems, traffic etc."
In A Nutshell:"Put your walking shoes on; in six days we walked 44 miles!"
