Jack the Ripper committed 5 murders during 1888. All the victims were prostitutes. Many other murders in the Whitechapel area have been attributed to Jack the Ripper, but these 5 are all very similar, and took place in the same time period. One theory is that the first four were either practice or errors, and that the last one was the intended victim all along. The final victim was a lover to te Duke of Windsor and was reputed to be carrying his child. The primary suspect was Montague John Druitt. The Inspector in charge of the investigation was Frederick George Abberline.
The one thing that ties them all together is their membership in the Masons. Were five women murdered to protec the royal bloodline ? Was Abberline's oath as a Mason more important than his oath as a police officer ? These are a few of the questions that continue to haunt investigators to this day. Enjoy London, but be wary in Whitechapel.
