Vegas Baby!

The Dynamic City in the Desert

UPDATE: Just got married in Vegas. I wonderful experience, other than the amount of money that we lost at the tables.

Vegas is a truly unique place. It is a monument to human greed, corruption, desire, and flamboyancy. But, there is always an interesting time to be had. It is an adult playground. The amount of energy flowing through the city is unmatched. The strip changes every year: a new casino, new attractions, new residents. It is a city that is always on the move. Las Vegas welcomes 17,000 new residents every month, making it the fastest growing city in the United States.

There are attractions like rollercoasters and the like, but they are merely the remaining dinosaurs of a failed attempt (in the 90's) to make Las Vegas family friendly. Unfortunately, there are still many children running around with their parents. Be careful not to burn them with your cigarettes as you walk through the casino. This is not a place for kids. Sex ads are everywhere. As is nearly every vice known to mankind. Leave your kids at home for this one.

Gaming

I admit that I like to gamble. I spend much of my time in the casino betting that a little metal ball will land on a particular number. The whole city is designed to get you into the casino. The games are easy, and the casinos will be happy to teach you anything you don't understand. You have to play to win, or so they say. I usually go home with more than I came with, or at least with a few designer clothing items.
Roman Martinez rests after a night of gambling.

Not just games...

Gaming is only one side of Vegas (albeit a BIG side).
The Venetian is home to the Guggenheim - Las Vegas where you can view some of the world's most cutting-edge artwork. The Bellagio also has a gallery that often shows the private collections of famous art collectors.

There are fantastic views of the strip from the top of the 1/2 size replica of the Eiffel Tower. You can visit the aquarium at Mandalay Bay and view some very dangerous sharks. And food, ay!

I am a confessed food addict. I enjoy my cuisine and can be a little snobby about it. I don't demand only French haute cuisine or anything like that, but I do demand quality. Every major chef in the United States has a restuarant in one of the hotel/casinos on the strip: Puck, Lagasse, Nobu, etc. Fresh fish in the desert? Yes.

The business treat everyone like a king. The rooms are relatively inexpensive and extravagant. The service is unmatched. People flock here from all over the world to work. You will hear accents from dozens of countries in just a short walk across the casino floor. It is a dynamic city where cultures collide, mix, and breed a new culture. In the Mojove Desert.

Pros:"Food, games, entertainment"
Cons:"Not good for kids, can be very crowded at times, VERY hot in the summer (over 115 degrees F)"
In A Nutshell:"More than just games, but gambling is king here."
