"THE MOON AND THE BEACH" Ko Phangan by Rastarigo

I've learned Koh Phangan from the film 'The Beach' for the rice run.
From
Koh Samui, I took the ferry for Koh Phangan with the intention to catch
a
glimpse of the much touted full moon party. It was a rough and wet
ride. The
island is a lot more rustic and laid-back than its larger counterpart
Koh
Samui. The beach where they hold nocturnal parties is perfect. Pure
white
sand, tempting blue waters. I can barely remember if there were palm
trees.
The beach is only a kilometer long or so but wide and shallow and as
I've
said pure white sand. No pebble at all! Truly spectacular beach. The
full
moon party for the month has just concluded a few days before but still
the
presence of party animals paved the way for little parties on the
beach. The
island is not devoid of internet cafes, restaurants, bars- one proof to
tourism being a catalyst of development. I hope it doesn't take too
long
before I get the chance to return to this fabled island. This place is
gotta
be another reason why I love Thailand, why I keep on coming back to
this
country of beautiful beaches, wonderful people and bountiful cultures.
