Panglao | ominous clouds over dumaluan beach |
I love the beach so when I'm home in Bohol I would always sneak out of my room to head straight to Panglao Island. It has blinding white beaches. Alona Beach the more popular one is short and narrow but the sand is fine white. Next is Dumaluan Beach my favorite hangout beach on Panglao. Long, blindingly white powdery sand, too dazzling leaving me squinting against the blinding spark of the sand. Swimming in the waters of Dumaluan comes next to Boracay's White Beach. Water in Dumaluan Beach is crystal clear exposing the bottom world of fine white sand. Boholanos are blessed with such an amazing beach, I say so because Dumaluan Beach is a public beach, although the western end of the beach is off-limits to non-guests of Bohol Beach Club. However, one may enjoy BBC surroundings without checking-in. Pay 100 pesos for entrance which is also consumable. You may use the facilities except the swimming pool. BBC is popular among traveling Mormons. A group of these young preachers was playing beach volleyball next to us. |

| | Best Public Beach Christmas had just concluded and New Year is on our heels so the festive mood of the beach still lingers. I told our boatman to drop us off this beach. There was a horde of swimmers in one part of the beach. The clear waters are tempting and I couldn't resist. No rocks or corals to scathe my plodding feet. And almost no boat moored to clutter the shoreline. What a great place to unwind. Almost a world-class public beach. |
Home Bohol is nice. Trust me. Your journey starts in Tagbilaran. You better stop here first and scrounge up for stuff you need. Tagbilaran City is budding and rudimentary yet not as seedy as Cebu where you see shacks by the streets. It's orderly, clean and not crowded. Panglao Island is a beach haven. If you are eager to dive, go to Alona Beach. It's where your journey starts. If you are after the beach, don't go to Alona, it's cluttered and the beach is not good for great swimming. Instead go to Dumaluan Beach. I prefer you stay in Bohol Beach Club as the beach is widest and whitest there. There's Doljo Beach on the other side of the island but I haven't been there. | | | Mom mocks return of Gen. Mc Arthur |
