STILL A SECRET

PORT BARTON

Mainland beach
Not as popular as El Nido or Sabang but definitely a beautiful part in north Palawan one should not miss on the way up north. There was only one jeepney plying Port Barton and Roxas so if you arrive Roxas late in the afternoon, better stay in Roxas for one night and start your journey to Port Barton in the morning.
The sand has turned orangey when I arrived due to the incessant rain. Rain can be frustrating as it hampers you to do your planned activities. The beach is long and on its widest in the north end. The sea was calm as Port Barton is a bay but disappointingly murky due to the mess brought by the river after the rain. Anyway solitude on the beach is perfect.
Port Barton becomes endearing when you go out of the bay. Tiny green islands appear. There's Exotic island, German island, Double island, Paradise island, to name a few. Crystal-clear waters, powdery white sand are easy to find as they exist in all these tiny islands. Snorkeling in Paradise island is a must. The corals seem young and virgin, tiny colorful fishes keep on coming in and out of the coral holes. The surrounding waters are just fantastic blue. Cacnipa island which is a little farther is heavenly. Various colors appear in every corner- green, white, blue, bluish green, navy blue... Again, how I wish I could stay in this deserted island for as long as I could imagine.
Port Barton, I miss you so much. When will I ever see your majestic islands again? I hope soon.

Hauntingly Beautiful

This part of Palawan remains one of my favorite places in the country. Once is not enough, twice is not enough, thrice won't do any good either and to be living here is the only option I have if I want to bask in the glory of the place over and over again. Is it the brilliant blue waters? Is it the dreamy islands afloat on the bay? Is it the barren beaches that no one seemed to have visited?

Island-Hopping

Have you tried crossing from one island to another by swimming or walking? Even scaredycat can do that. Here in Port Barton.

You become a little bit sentimental and lyric while thinking of Port Barton. Now I understand why... ;-)
