I booked this accommodation following a recommendation from a VT member - and was not disappointed!
I arrived early morning and the owner, Reza Gunnoo, was waiting for me at the airport.
From the moment you meet this permanently smiling man you get a feeling for the genuine nature of Mauritian people.
On the way to Villa Camille in Reza’s 4 x 4 he pointed out various landmarks and places of interest. Unfortunately for me I had trapped a nerve in my neck during my flight and was not able to fully appreciate this.
On arrival at the villa Reza’s wife had prepared me a fantastic breakfast which was laid out on the front patio – of all my travels I have never received such hospitality on arrival anywhere.
The hospitality did not stop there, Reza ferried me several times to the local clinic and the hospital (on Xmas day!) His nieces called-into my room on a regular basis to make sure I was ok, and his sister invited me to eat with them including a meal on my final evening at the Villa.
On New Year I was invited to a great feast of a barbeque on the roof of the Villa – Reza is an accomplished fisherman / cook, so if you enjoy fish this is a good place to stay.
Unique Qualities: The Villa is well positioned close to local amenities – shops, bank / ATM, restaurants and transport links. There is also a large supermarket within walking distance.
If you wish to engage in some deep sea game fishing then this is the place to be. Mauritius has several world fishing records that include a mako shark of 115 pounds, the blue shark of 400 pounds, a bonito of 41.5 pounds, a white tuna of 224 pounds and a 'bécune' of 125 pounds, not to mention the blue marlins weighing around 1430 pounds.
Also remember that whatever you need you can rely on Reza and the team to be there to help you.
