I visited Mauritius for 3 weeks Dec 05 / Jan 06. I was unfortunate to arrive with a trapped nerve in my neck which remained with me for the duration of the holiday and limited my activities considerably.

However I was very fortunate with regard to my choice of accomadation. The owner and all of his family looked after me for three weeks, so a big thank you to Reza and his family @ Villa Camille.

I had hired a car for three days so I braved a limited drive around the Island.

I paid a visit to the world famous Pamplemousses Botanical Garden and headed straight for the giant lillies. I was a little dissapointed to learn that due to climatic changes the lillies had stopped flowering.

Oh well better luck next time.

On to the Casela bird park where amongst other things (Birds) you will find the giant tortoise.

On this particular day it was very hot and this photo was taken around noon. Sensibly the tortoise are taking the shade.
