PÄRNU

by FletteMette - last update: Jul 13, 2005

Downtown Pärnu
Pärnu, with it's long white sandy beach, is known as "the Summer Capital" of Estonia. The first spa opened here around 1830, and the town has been a popular resort destination since then, with an ever increasing number of spas and sanatoriums.

Pärnu only has around 45 000 inhabitants, but the small seaside town is very lively in the summer months, with lots of outdoor cafés and restaurants. Pärnu is situated in the southwestern part of Estonia, 130 km from Tallinn - and can be easily seen on a day trip from the capital.

The beach is of course the town's main attraction - but the small town itself is very pleasant, and definitely worth a visit.

Ah - that blue sky of Northern Europe makes a perfect background for photographs. Lovely doors as well, but why are they all closed ?

Hey Mette, the VT card that you sent me is "no longer valid" :-( Is this a *known* glitch...or did you withdraw it? ;-) Beach BBQs in Tromso sound great....and hopefully that snow will melt *soon*! :-)

Visited Parnu in '94 for 5 days and spent most days walking around or sitting on the beach. Lots of fond memories-a favourite place that I've had the chance to visit! Great Pics and tips! Cheers DEAN
