Nakhon Pathom is a town not too far from Bangkok. It has a rich Buddhist history. As the story goes, over 2 millenia ago, a missionary from far away India was sent to introduce the teachings of Buddha to what is now Thailand.
In 1853, King Rama IV built the Phra Pathom Chedi pagoda. The pagoda is huge and gold colored. It is the tallest Buddhist monument in the world standing at 120.45 m. |

The big chedi is indeed as much worth a visit as the Rose Garden is not; great to find another page on Nakhon Pathom here, a city I really like. |
