A Wildlife Sanctuary

by member007 - last update: Nov 19, 2004

the old guns left by the Japanese during WWII
Siapan is an island just a few thousand miles from Hawaii. Saipan was originally owned by Japan during world war II but was taken over by the allies and later owned by the united states. Now it is wildlife sanctuary giving homes to thousandsof species of birds. There are so many birds in Siapn that you literaly have to side step to avoid stepping on them. When the boat pulled into Saipan there were about seven dolphin riding in our bow-wake, jumping into the air and doing tricks to impress the new visitors. We also got to see a whale as it bumped into the side of our boat as we where docking. Saipan is quite a solitary island and is not know for its tourism. It is very small. The entire island could be walked in a day.
