Paradise to some.......home to us. Anything you read on Santa Barbara is going to be one sided because we both love this place. Charlie grew up here and Janette attended UC Santa Barbara so we've plenty of knowlege. Santa Barbara is located approximately 90 miles north of Los Angeles. There is a local airport so flights directly into Santa Barbara are availble. Santa Barbara is also known as the "Little French Riviera" being situated between the coast and the foothills. This gives it the feel of the French Riviera. There is even a drive that runs along the foothills which provides breath taking vistas of Snata Barbara and the Channel Islands (on a clear day). There is plenty of shopping, sights, festivals, and no shortage of people watching. Santa Barbara is also known for it's many restaurants ranging in diversity from French to Thai. Mexican restaurants abound here as well as the usual turist trap fodder. |
