"Gateway Arch (St. Louis)" Missouri by jorgejuansanchez

In San Diego I bought a Greyhound pass and travelled around USA.
I used to travel in the night and visited the places during the day, thus saving money in hotels (although I rarely sleep in hotels, practically never) and gaining time. When I needed a shower I paid a few dollars in a bath house (or entered in a Salvation Army) and after one hour I was again shaved, clean and looking nicely.
In Saint Luis, Missouri, I arrived very early in the morning and decided to spend the full day there, visiting the most interesting tourists’ attractions. I walked about 40 minutes until the Arch, without any doubt the attraction numero uno. It was a lovely place. I spent there at least four hours. First I walked around the gardens and crossed on foot a famous and historical bridge over the River Missouri. Then, when the Arch was opened (I arrived at Saint Louis at 6 AM), I paid 10 US Dollars for a ticket and took a sui generis lift to the top, where I stayed about half an hour enjoying the breathtaking views over the town. The Arch is 192 metres high. Back downstairs I still visited a lot of things, starting by the museums, one of them featuring the Indian chief Red Cloud and his son; they were like living dolls, talking and moving, very didactic. I also saw a movie explaining about the Lewis and Clark expedition from 1804 to 1806, starting in Saint Louis, where they met, until the mouth of the Missouri River, in Astoria, between Washington and Oregon states. There were shops, cafeteria, friendly staffs….
In short, that visit was cool. When it started to become dark I walked back to the Greyhound station and headed to Kansas City.
It was a pleasant excursion the one I made to the Arch. Downstairs there are museums, movies, history, shops, coffee and drinks... I was really satisfied.
