"The Barbie island" Lord Howe Island by jorgejuansanchez

Lord Howe Island Travel Guide: 23 reviews and 40 photos

Lord Howe has no history, only beauty, and it is very expensive to get there.

It is compulsory to book a hotel before flying to Lord Howe. And they are very expensive!
Camping is not allowed.

I paid nearly 1000 euro for a round trip ticket by plane from Sydney to Lord Howe, plus 3 nights hostel, called Hideaway. Food was not included, only coffee.

The island is beautiful, but has no history, it is like a Barbie island; there is only beauty. Polynesians never inhabited that island.

You can walk around the island in a couple of hours, it is very small. From my hotel to the airport it was just a short walk.

Food is very expensive in the island; you will hardly have a simple dinner for less than 40 or 50 Australian dollars. But there is a supermarket in the island where you can buy products and cook in your hostel.
