I have been through Austin several times in the last few years, this was the 1st time I stayed awhile. It is a traditioanl water town (built on a waterway) so that adds a certain ambiance and character to the town. You can go on a steam paddle boat ride on the lake or even rent a canoe to take a paddle. I must warn you I am NOT a fan of Texas. And believe me I have given it many trys. San Antonio aside, I am still not taken with the ole' Tex. Austin has a few redeeming qualities, but they are simply not enough FOR ME. So if you are a thinned skinned Texan or a Texas loven person STOP NOW as I do not wish to offend anyone with my opinion!

6 th Street at Night

Singing Fish and Lobster Car - 6th Street

It is quite the college town - which isn't very interesting to anyone say older then 22....... But in all fairness, the 6th street area shuts down the traffic at night so everyone can bar hop, kind of like the French Quarter in New Orleans. Once a month they have a crazy car show on the barricaded street. The cars are truly a works of art.

I know what you mean about Texas. I am not from Texas but the job is what got me here so I have to make do. I am sure there are interesting parts. I wanna check out Palo Duro Canyon up around the Panhandle.
