"Thailand is Amazing!" Bangkok by stappm

We started our trip in Bangkok for 8 days then went to Phuket for 10 and back to Bangkok. With a couple side trips: Ayuthaya, Chang Mai. The first round in Bangkok, we stayed at the Marriott Resort & Spa on the River. I would definietly stay there again! We went during the rainy season - accamodations were a bit cheaper - and the rain is fairly predictable (every 4 pm in BKK for about an hour) Don't let the rain stop you! Save all your shopping for the Chatuchak (aka the Weekend Market) it will be well worth it. You can buy ANYTHING there. Other ok shopping was at Siam Square or MBK - but nothing like the weekend market. It was worth the trip alone!

From Bangkok you can take a day trip to the Floating Market, Elephant riding incld: Bamboo rafting, monkeys, Bridge on the river Kwai. All the day trips are great. If I had to pick only one - it would be hard.... Floating Market or Elephants..... They were both excellent days! We booked these trips thru the concierge at the hotel - I don't remember the name, but it seemed all the tour groups were doing the same thing.

Make sure you take a Long Boat (like a river Taxi) ride - either to the Grand Palace, Ayuthaya, or the floating Market . Thay are a lot of fun!

The elephant ride trip sounds fun and interesting. I learned a lot of things about Bangkok from your tips, that I did not know! Thank you for your input. The Hotel tips will come in handy as well!

Glad you enjoyed Bangkok etc. Thailand is an amazing country and I just love it. I suspect |when I get to Las Vegas and New York this October, I will be hooked on America.
