If you want to "check the block" and hit many countries, then stop by Bratislava, but aside from that I would not really recommend it as a tourist destination. I went there over New Year's Eve, and was pleased with the turn out for the outdoor festivities. But, in the day time the remnants of communism were all too visible and unsightly. Further, the customer service and most places was terrible to non-existent. Expect to wait a long time for poor service, and, hopefully, expect to walk-out frustrated and not give your business to some of these new capitalists. |
| Fireworks exploding in crowds |
| | I was pleased with the large crowd for New Year's and the very cheap Slovak champagne being sold street side. However, you had to be careful of people detonating fireworks in large crowds. Also the fog that seemed to constantly envelope the city obscured the fireworks. |
The old town is nice to walk around, but very small. Outside of it, there is not much to see. | | | You'll see more of this than Eastern opulence |
