    • There are horror stories going for Lima about the abundance of crime and so on. Well, maybe there are statistics that show exactly that but at the same time or as a result of similar statistics, the police are out in full force. The areas of interest to visitors, such as the main square or Miraflores are packed with police. Actually, there are two kinds of uniformed guardians. The regular police are supported by city employees with whistles in their mouths mowing down any attempt for peddling or begging. In this environment it is hard to believe that any violent criminal or petty thief would feel comfortable.

    • The presence of female police is noticeable. Peru has gone far ahead of its mentors in employing the gentler part of the population in this prestigious and dangerous work. At the same time, fashion and the sense for style, no matter what, are never neglected. The police ladies are well dressed in elegant uniforms and look around not only for potential hooligans but for the effects of their appearance as well.
