Welcome relief from Chaam plight

by Assenczo - last update: Nov 9, 2005

Temple in downtown Petchaburi
Monk future
Phetchaburi is a place hard to find on the map. It is true the spelling can be misleading too. Suddenly there is a lot to see; royal residencies, rash of temples, colouful monks and more of the regular day-to-day Thai life. It seems a totally different planet compared to Chaam and its modern holiday life. Such a contrast is a welcome relief for people already bored with lying around on the beach for days. In addition to its historical and cultural value, the area offers a respite from the heavy humidity especially when on the top of the hills. It is no coincidence that the royals have chosen this place.
