THIS TOO, IS IRELAND, THE IRELAND I LOVE....

Oh, how I love Ireland incl. Northern Ireland....

I have been there several times and always want to go back and...I am going back again soon....

On the roadsign you can see AILLWEE CAVE and in one of my travelogues you can see and read more about it!

I can recommend it to you......

IMPORTANT MESSAGE....MARCH 2004.

it is NO LONGER allowed to SMOKE in IRISH PUBS.......

Publicans are afraid this law will damage their business and lots of Irish people and tourists will think that it will affect the atmosphere in the pubs, the atmosphere we all love so very much.

But there are non-smoking areas everywhere in Ireland and like in so many countries people are already used to NON SMOKING signs in all public spaces / buildings etc..

I wish the publicans GOOD LUCK !!

THE PERFECT EUROPEAN ......

SHOULD BE.....ENLARGE THE CARD, READ AND LAUGH.....

IRELAND is doing fine: during my stay there I have seen the many changes-for-the-better myself....... it really is a place very worthwhile of your visit.........

My ADVICE: rent a car and tour the country ! Numerous B&Bs(in farmhouses, castles, mansions....) hotels, youth hostels e.g. ) will welcome you and take it from me that wherever you stay you will be looked after very well!

PLEASE, HAVE A LOOK AT MY MANY TRAVELOGUES WHICH ARE THE VERY HEART OF MY VT PAGES, ALWAYS MADE WITH LOVE, CARE AND RESPECT!

Of course there are also many, many tips at my IRELAND pages....just give it a try!

THE MAP OF IRELAND....

Ireland is a fairy tale !! The most western part of Europe near one of the Seven Seas, unspoiled and just "herself".
Go there, by air of by sea, rent a car (in advance is cheaper) and enjoy every nook and cranny, cry with the wind and the waves, fight the wind, laugh with the music and the people you meet, drink and have another glass again, enjoy the cliffs and the wide Atlantic beaches, stretches of soft white sand, miles long!! Stay at B&B's, especially the farmhouses and farms, taste their home baked cakes and cookies, because that is what they will welcome you with!! Gooooooooooooo!!
P.S. take care where you tread: don't disturb the lepregauns and fairies!!!

HEINRICH BöLL'S book : MY IRISH JOURNAL IS A REAL must TO HAVE IN YOUR LUGGAGE.

This book has thousands and thousands of people influenced and.........it made/makes them leave for ACHILL ISLAND, AN ISLAND AT THE WEST COAST OF IRELAND where the author had bought a holiday cottage.

"This Ireland exists, but who goes there and can't find it, can't talk with me!!" Heinrich Böll wrote in his preface.
The book appeared in 1957 but is still a MUST for each and every Ireland traveller!!

So: my advice (as admirer of Ireland and this famous German Author) is: buy the book and you won't regret it!

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:SURPRISING, AMAZING, ENDEARING, FASCINATING...

Your love for Ireland is obvious. Your pages make me want to go there straight away, but I must wait till August. I've just booked the plane tickets (and the car) so I believe that my dream will come true.
