I also visited LEIPZIG.
Leipzig was quite dangerous while I was there, the atmosphere felt threatening for only one night and a day on my way to Dresden.
There was a demonstration of
Neo Nazis which was allowed (!?) but ...(of course) all those who areAGAINST this sort of awful, intolerable events, had also gathered and waited to get a chance to meet them peacefully but yet: not wanting clashes at all, all over Leipzig was POLIZEI with guns and other fire arms I don't know the names of, many, many cars and many dogs with muzzles but yet able to bark loudly and frightening: RED ALERT!
(I didn't know that each year these NEO NAZIS gather on the 1st of September...)
My hotel was near the HAUPTBAHNHOF and the barking of the dogs and the shouting was ear deafening. Why I went to that Railway Station: see the postcard in the
TRAVELOGUE and you will see that it had a lot of shops with all I needed to buy.....food etc.... A nice railway stations with lots of shops!
Despite all this unrest I spent the day and early evening in this historical city and its center, had a nice icecream there and some tea after walking all the streets and alleys to see whatever I could because this was only meant to be an overnight stop.......... but I like to make the most of every second of my travels.
