THE LITTLE RUSTY BEAUTY..... | RUSTY LITTLE BEAUTY MUSEUM HARBOUR ROTTERDAM.. |
This endearing rusty little boat must have been on the bottom of the sea or harbour for quite some time....
But for THE MUSEUM HAVEN nothing is too difficult and it was worth fishing up and I suppose they will restore it to its former glory!
But I love it the way it is now!!

| | LIVELY, BUZZING ROTTERDAM..... Holland = Amsterdam. Say Holland and the answer will be: I was there, in Amsterdam>.
But.... there is more to Holland....oh yes e.g. Rotterdam
WORLD'S LARGEST HARBOUR......
Not far from Amsterdam lies Rotterdam: a very special city, from 1962 world port number 1 and with a population of hardworking men and women, with that typical down-to-earthness, that commonsensical Rotterdam character.
The city is worth a visit, I can assure you, you will enjoy it.
Think of the worldfamous ROTTERDAM MARATHON in April, the worldfamous ROTTERDAM FILMFESTIVAL in January: night and day you can watch movies to your heart's content.
Public Transport is easy and punctual and everywhere: buses, underground (RET), trams, bikes, taxis etc.. People are frank, easy going, honest and friendly, so go there.
DON'T FORGET TO BUY A "STRAATKRANT = STREET PAPER " FOR JUST 2 euros: it is a project of the HOMELESS, who write and print and sell it themselves to earn a "living", they will be very grateful and they all are the most friendly people you can meet in Rotterdam. I shall put a photo of one of them in my travelogue, have a look there. And do help them, please ??!!
No canals here but take some time for a wonderful, exciting Harbour trip by boat and visit the many Museums. Rotterdam is as Dutch as Dutch can be, believe me.
Travel by train, from A'dam city centre to R'dam city centre, it will take you just one hour, Rotterdam Central Station and Amsterdam Central Station (CS) and I can assure you that you won't regret it, even the hour iin the train will be delightful and a nice occasion to meet US, the real Dutch people, perhaps you could even meet ME >there on the train. The only thing is: don't travel during rush hours and ask for cheap tickets (more persons e.g.)
See my travelogues which are always under construction but can already give you an idea of this gem of a city!
All practical tips and info are embedded in the texts of the TRAVELOGUES AND......AN EMAIL is so easy if necessary, because opening times and prices can change!
DUE TO ??????? two pages disappeared and although I already have put back the photographs the texts are still missing......it will take me again, days and days to restore these once quite nice TRAVELOGUES which are the very core of a VT page (imho)
THERE ARE SEVERAL TRAVELOGUES TO BE ENJOYED, ALL MADE WITH LOVE, PLEASURE AND FUN!
|
| | AGAIN AN ENDEARING LITTLE BOAT IN A BOTTLE.... Perhaps you have already seen my ENKHUIZEN PAGE with its BOTTLE SHIP MUSEUM.........not yet??? Oh, don't miss it.....
Here too a bottleship and use your magnifying glass as I always do and you will see all the details.
This precious one is in the collection of the MARITIME MUSEUM in ROTTERDAM.
It is a POON (model) and believe me or not, but the bottle is shorter than your middle finger.......
Of course we will never know who made it during hours of windless weather after all possible jobs had been done for the day!
But it is a sweetie and I am going to put it with the other bottle ships on my ENKHUIZEN PAGE.... THE MORE THE MERRIER!
THERE ARE 5 TRAVELOGUES....DON'T FORGET TO GO THERE....
