Restaurant Name: VASCELUM Bar, Restaurant i Celler....
This was a real fine and quiet (what is quiet in Spain ??) place. They served us quickly and friendly after having explaned what was on the menus, because my 3 years course of Spanish is not enough to be able to figure out what the names on the menus mean.... We enjoyed a real fine large, very large PAELLA FOR VEGETARIANS..... Which was really great! We had nice cream for desserts!
Favorite Dish: If not a fine fish dish I prefer vegeratarian meals which is not that difficult nowadays. I love special places for VEGETARIANS but also restaurants that have nice dishes for vegetarians because when one is vegetarian and the other craves a steakm you will have a problem!

Restaurant Name: TWO NICE PLACES FOR FISH and SHELL FISH
Both restaurants are located on the little peninsula that lies behind the PORT. Both are the best restaurants for fish and shell fish. They serve exquisite plates in a lively atmosphere......
Favorite Dish: My favourite dish was a sort of BOUILLABAISSE, fisg soup and I could hear the waiter coming because the shells were singing against the porcelain of the bowl.

TAPAS BARS are not so numerous as in MADRID but yet there are enough to pick a nice one.... EL ROBLE located at Lluis Antuniz is fine for fish and shell fish dishes..... CRISTAL CITY at the Balmes sells books as well as TAPAS.... But absolutely different is PINOCHIO which you can find at the BOQUIERIA market at the RAMBLAS and then you have to look out for stand nr. 66-67!
Favorite Dish: enjoy your tapas, they are fine every hour of the day, indoors and outdoors....

THE CIUTAT VELLA, the old town has the largest number of Restaurants...... The oldest one is CAN CULLETERES, yes, the oldest of whole Barcelona and that it is still going strong means A LOT........
Favorite Dish: I haven't had a meal here because it is quite expensive, in any case too expensive for me....

Restaurant Name: SETE PORTES (7)
This restaurant is also located in the CIUDAT VELLA. This one is a fine quality restaurant and not too expensive, which is great for a tourist! They serve CATALAN (=local) food, which is always good and the atmosphere is great! Lively and atmospheric place.
Favorite Dish: A spicy fish dish is great because fish dishes can often be so....tasteless.... And you now know their preference for spices!

Here too you will get CATALAN = local food which is very, very good. You know their taste for spices and they can work wonders. I also love the smiling faces when they serve you as if you were a queen / king..
Favorite Dish: I once had a perfectly spiced sole, which was great. Not too big for me, so.....I could manage... The waiter praised me......like my mother used to do when I had finished my plate....

Small but very atmospheric and although in a bit of a hinding place behind the BOQUERIA, those who have been there once know where to find it for the next time! Here too, not too expensive but excellent meals, everything with local product and it really tasts CATALAN.
Favorite Dish: Fish of course...... High quality restaurant.....trust me.....

Restaurant Name: RESTAURANTE RIAS DE GALICIA
This is a very special place, like most restaurants in Spain. Those Spaniards are fantastic in making restaurants and dishes / menus as attractive as a May fair! Here e.g. they have GRAN SELECCIóN..... doesn't it look extremely promising?? They have daily deliveries of the best products from the Calatal and Galician coasts. There service is great, there is ample space to park your car.
Favorite Dish: And how about LIVE MUSIC?? Tha place is air-conditioned and they accept creditcards. THE MENUS ARE IN ENGLISH, FRENCH, GERMAN, ITALIAN, RUSSIAN, JAPANESE AND.........IN BRAILLE WHICH IS EVER SO SWEET AND THOUGHTFUL A GESTURE.... Of course not in Dutch because the whole world thinks (and they are right) that we can manage with lots of foreign languages.....) Although.....my Japanese is VERY poor...lolol
