UNA CIUDAD ENCANTADORA....... From whatever direction you approach SEVILLE, the ' PRINCESS OF ALL CITIES", you will be taken by surprise.
In the midst of the bare Andalucian planes a modern city, sun-drenched and oh so sunny and hot, suddenly lies in front of you....
Even if it is early May the heat will fall upon you and that will make it clear how temperatures will be whenever it is SUMMER!
The cities, a real beauty, lies prettily nestled in the GUADALQUIVIR BASIN......
In 1992 the WORLD EXPO TOOK PLACE IN SEVILLE and the roller coaster which was built in the park ISLA MàGICA for that event now is the real eye catcher, the new view of SEVILLE.
Sweet Seville has a maze of old and narrow streets, walkways and mysterious alleyways, just walk and...you are there: in the wondrous SEVILLE of your dreams. HEAT above your head, on the roofs, yes, this really is a place where in summer people live at night and try to keep cool during the day! During SIëSTA TIME you won't see a soul in the streets......and the best and wisest thing to do is adapt to this style of living immediately.
ENCHANTING SEVILLE is quiet between midday till 4.30PM, shops have closed their doors and so have museums, so take care to be sure about the HORARIOS, the opening hours...........
WORLD EXPOS are great events: people want to show their city at its best and everything will be done to make the place as attractive as possible. And.....here in SEVILLE, in 1992, the BASIN of the GUADALQUIVIR was changed to its former glory and......the wonderful GIRALDA,SEVILLE'S multicultural MORESQUE TOWER is again reflected in the river's water!
An extra is that of late the TOWER is magnificently illuminated..........

| | BUILDING FROM THE SEVILLE FAIR IN 1929.... This wonderful building now houses the Museum of Arts and Popular Costumes.
It is one of the building situated in the PARQUE DE LUISA.
This parque is a garden of 2 kilometers in length and nearly 1 kilometer in width. It was designed at the beginning of the 20th Century from the garden of the Palace de San Telmo, which was donated by the Infante Maria Luisa to be used as a publik park.
The gardens of Mariana and other small holdings were added until the present day size was reached. Seville owes the structure of the park to the famous architect of garden LEFORESTIER.
Inside the Park the pavilions for the Hispo-American Fair of 1929 were set up and these are grouped in several complexes.
The Plaza de Espana is made up of the complex of buildings used as the office for the 1929 Fair.
The Plaza de America is made up of several palaces which differ in architecture.
This museum (see photograph) of Popular Arts is housed in the wonderful MUDEJAR PAVILION.

| | BELL ON TOP OF THE FAMOUS GIRALDA.... Climbing the GIRALDA is a real must; well, climbing is not the right word because there are no stairs, no spiralling stairway up. The GIRALDA (once a minaret) is square so you just walk upstairs via sloping ramps which make is easy because people going up and people going down have space enough, you can walk on at ease and take pictures (SEE MY TRAVELOGUES). Going up is very rewarding because of the panorams that awaits you once you have reached the top and...96 m isn't that high......what to think of the ULMER MüNSTER wit its almost 800 steps which I climbed...see my ULM page and CLICK HERE...
