Tenerife is one of the Canary Island situated in the ATLANTIC Ocean some 1500 km. from the mainland of AFRICA.....

La Gomera
They are Spanish from 1476 .
These Islands are famous (the old Greek came already to this place to enjoy the wonderful climate) for their fantastic weather conditions.
Without leaving the European Union I can enjoy an exotic, vulcanic, subtropical landscape with fabulous weather all year round. The climate is influenced by the golfstream EL GOLFO , the subtropical anticyclone and the mountains.
The average temperature is some 22 degrees Celsius, which is just great!
There are 7 Canary Island and TENERIFE is the middle one.
There is an impressive vulcano called EL TEIDE which has a height of 3718 metres and which place you can visit (as I did!) very recommended!!
There are some 120,000 beds waiting for tourists & travellers.......also most special and wonderful towns and villages......there are black but also white beaches the sand for which was brought in from the SAHARA!
This time I had booked a flight and hired a car and had mapped my route in advance, using VT tips, travelbooks and Library books......so I only had to look for a hotel at each place where I arrived in the late afternoon and it worked well!
It takes only some 5 hours by plane to reach Tenerife and yet the difference is INDESCRIBABLE.....
This Island is one huge monument of NATURE....
The National Park EL TEIDE (this vulcano is the highest of SPAIN'S mountains!) is such a special place amidst the volcanic landscape of LAS CANADAS.....
There are stretches of desert-like landscapes but also green, lush fields.....banana plantations and so much more......I am always impressed by palm trees!

Great page and very interesting mix of nature, ocean, mountains, wildlife and tourist industry. Great descriptions of the hotels as well.
